AIDS-Related Pneumonia

C:\WORD5\NORMAL.STYHPLASER@U®Ğ[1]`

For Joe, who died in New

York University Hospital

because doctors were so

busy making money on

unnecessary procedures

that they forgot to place a

stethoscope on his trembling

chest.

The concatenation of the cough cough cough

Hear those respiratory rales

Minor chords on all your scales

Choking, wintered, weathered wails

And the breath, breath, breath

withered, weeping, whispers death

The concatenation of the cough cough cough

Your midnight fevered dark travails

Where death devorous always prevails

And light and love are lanced with veils

And the breath breath breath

Withered weeping whispers death

The concatenation of the cough cough cough

Causing dizzy, dark, hypoxic fright

As monstrous microbes rob your might

With vile teeming toxic blight

And the breath, breath, breath

withered, weeping, whispers death

The concatenation of the cough cough cough

In the great wards august and stern

Where you’ll be ashes in an urn

And for lots of money doctors yearn

And the breath, breath, breath

Withered, weeping, whispers death

The concatenation of the cough cough cough

And your sick body seems obtrusive

And those dear friends become elusive

And social services more abusive

And the breath, breath, breath

Withered, weeping, whispers death

The concatenation of the cough cough cough

This is the terror reign of AIDS

Of dirty doctors’ escapades

A worthless government’s charades

And the breath breath breath

Withered weeping whispers death
